The Space in Between
Design Miami 2023 – Rademakers Gallery presents Amsterdam-based Rive Roshan’s solo Curio presentation ‘The Space in Between’. In a moment marked by division, this poetic sanctuary explores design as a tool for nurturing reflection, fresh ways of seeing, and, ultimately, the designers hope, connection. For the two designers Ruben de la Rive Box and Golnar Roshan of Rive Roshan, the in-between space is not empty; they know how to shape the way people feel in that space. With their carefully chosen materials and research into colours and shapes, they create a series of new transformative objects playing with light, movement, reflection, and perception.

Voices Vessel 01
A development from their 3D printed Sand in Motion collection, the ‘Voices’ vessels collection is a detailed collection, with organic shapes that seem to make fluid movements like spinning dancers dressed in pleated fabric. The dancing pieces, caught in a moment of time, are echoes of the voices of Iranian women calling for freedom.

Space in Between Table
A Beautifully hued glass work which transforms under the influence of light and reflection, highlighting the experience of shifting viewpoints. The exhibition’s namesake piece, ‘Space in Between Tables’, is one glass table physically separated by air into two halves: one dark, one light. However, they merge together through each other’s reflection and their surroundings whilst spreading and diffusing light and suggesting movement, like rippling water made of coloured-textured glass.

“If we teach our minds to shift perspectives through curiosity and reflection, we learn to open our minds, bridge divides, and make more progressive choices.”

“When we evoke positive or conscious emotions in people, they open their minds and look at their environment more thoughtfully and with more empathy and make better and more progressive choices,”
